I'm concerned with the condition of the Georges Valley roadAs part of the Magoebaskloof Hill Climb event, we are engaging with local municipality, roads and traffic to upgrade the route to an acceptable standard. As the event has the capacity to draw thousands of tourists for the weekend, it is a wonderful driving force for effecting positive change.
-
Will the event set a precedent for amateurs to use the hill for racing, and subsequently cause accidents? The majority of accidents are: -caused by losing control downhill -caused by truck brakes overheating -caused by overtaking at unsuitable locations -caused by reckless driving -caused by motorcycles not being able to navigate the tight bends. -caused by driving under the influence We are engaging with local municipality, roads and traffic to implement solutions that will lower the general speed at Magoebaskloof and make drivers aware of the hazardous conditions. We thank local residents who have already provided solutions to discuss with the municipality. Magoebaskloof pass should not be approached by amateurs for a thrill. It should be respected and only attempted by professional drivers in isolated conditions.
